⸺ Synopsis
From Muggia to Poreč, following a loop through the inland countryside, runs the route of an ancient Austro-Hungarian railway, now abandoned and transformed into a cycling path: the Parenzana. From the sea to the hills, through cultivated fields and stretches of olive groves, you encounter ancient villages built in Istrian stone, suspended in time. An eco-sustainable route, a slow journey that, through the vestiges of the past, tells the present of the Istrian hinterland, between subsistence agriculture and summer tourism. A little-known territory just a stone’s throw from well-known seaside destinations.
