In Val Gardena, especially in Ortisei, traditional craftsmanship is still alive and constantly evolving. The historic carving school and local families continue producing wooden works, from Gardena dolls to monumental altars. Alongside these roots, younger generations reinterpret family trades: some run the valley’s only brewery, others preserve handmade cheese production. Even the mountains reflect this evolution, with Aiut Alpin, a modern helicopter rescue service that builds on the valley’s alpine rescue tradition through dedicated volunteers.
